Scorpio Full Moon - Fixed AF
Camera Obscura
Full moons are a time when the inner self is revealed through the opposition of the outer self. And this full moon in Scorpio is no different. Of course, Scorpio would much rather stay in the dark, digging and controlling the unspoken, unseen and unconscious. Even if we don’t have a significant body (sun, moon, rising, planet or nodes) in Scorpio – the scorpion is still part of our chart impacting one of our houses. We do not escape our deeper emotions, our power struggles, our secrets or our shadows. All of which are brought to light, every year, by the Taurus sun – a lover of comfort, pleasure and all things earthly – from nature to money. It is at this time of year that Taurus kicks off our shoes so that we may dislodge the pebble we almost accepted as part of our foot.
Scorpio Full Moon
This year, however, we have more to the story. Pluto, the planet of the collective consciousness, and Scorpio’s ruler, is squaring to the Taurus-Scorpio lunar axis. A square is the harshest angle celestial bodies can take to each other. Not to mention, all three bodies are in fixed signs, meaning the signs build and concentrate the energy of their respective element: earth (Taurus), water (Scorpio) and air (Aquarius). At this full moon we have a stand-off between the physical nature of our outer selves, the emotions of our inner selves, and the mind of the collective consciousness.
Pluto Square the Sun and Moon
What is a measly human to do? We are cornered by three powerhouses.
On one hand, we can just hunker down or even ignore it. It is a moon transit after all, and it will pass in a few days. Given Pluto’s slow movement and propensity to retrograde, we will see this dynamic several times over the next few years. Or, we can look to the other ingredients the Cosmos has added to this Beltane party punch and choose to imbibe.
Uranus Trines Pluto
Uranus, the planet of new horizons, entered Gemini last week and began a 7 year process of marinating in Gemini’s playful, quick-changing and connective energy. As Aquarius’s ruler, Uranus has a powerful impact on expanding the mindset and ideals of the collective consciousness while Pluto is in Aquarius. During this full moon, Uranus makes a supportive trine with Pluto, further offering a helping hand to lift Pluto out of the square between the Sun and the Moon, suggesting that friendship and connection can offer a way to break free of both our inner demons and our worldly trappings. In a world filled with fighting, what is more rebellious than friendship?
Uranus Enters Gemini - Breaking Bondage and Expanding Bonds
For thousands of years, humans understood Saturn, the planet of authority, discipline, and hard-earned wisdom, to be the outer limit of our experience. In 1781, William Hershel used reflector mirrors to advance the telescope and Uranus entered the plot revealing the possibility of an endless horizon.
After Uranus was discovered, Neptune, the planet of dreams, imagination, and spirituality, followed not long after. Then we discovered Pluto, representing the shadow-self and collective unconsciousness and since then we have continued to discover countless galaxies as well as evidence of an ever-expanding universe. We have even stood on the moon and saw the earth from the stars’ perspective.
And so, we labeled Uranus the planet of disruption. Of course, Uranus was always there, and it is always in a constellation doing its work to reveal through sudden upheaval, a larger truth. The only difference is that now we are more conscious of it.
On April 26, 2026, Uranus moves firmly into Gemini, where it will stay until August of 2032. Gemini reflects the nature of the twins—a deep bond and the simultaneous experience of being both one and separate. Gemini is curious, friendly, and a little mischievous in that it flips from one side to the other. It is mental, intelligent, and quick—moving, thinking, and speaking. We will hear about Uranus disrupting technology, travel, and all forms of communication due to Gemini being ruled by Mercury, the winged-footed messenger to the gods. And this is true, Mercury does reflect tools, however, as the messenger, its essence is about connections made through a dynamic give and take. Uranus in Gemini reveals a broader perspective around connection and expands how we experience that what bonds us.
We might begin, if we choose—especially given Pluto’s presence in the radical and humanistic Aquarius (ruled by Uranus)—to move beyond seeing only the new toys that Uranus’s influence in Gemini has made for us: the telescopes, telegrams, telephones, and televisions; the steam engines, combustion engines, and supersonic flight; the new ways to “play nice” through improved government and more equitable social structures—such as Declaration of Independence, the abolition of slavery and the rise of journalism. —as well as the ways we have “not played nice,” with the American and French revolutionary wars, the American civil war, WWII and the invention and use of atomic warfare, which ultimately has shown us that the path of war and dominance only leads to mutual destruction.
We can see all of this because it is there and new tools will continue to form and foster massive advancement and destruction in almost equal measure, and we can also choose to see the message: we are unique beings who are also birthed from the same source.
With the awareness of Uranus entering Gemini, we can set an intention: do we bracing for impact and focus on counting and sorting the rubble in an effort to stay ahead?, or do we look out and see the infinite light being revealed?
Capricorn New Moon - The Final Mile
Why do we track the moon? What does its shape and location mean? Why do we care?
We care because it brings us to this moment, to this night. It brings us to ourselves and each other. A moment with the new moon is one that is shared, and one that is personal. And that combination is sacred.
So we stop.
Please go look at the no-moon moon tonight. At the very least, noticing the moon’s phase reminds us that life moves on. Tonight the moon is gone, and tomorrow it will begin to return. And so on.
This new moon is the first new moon of the solar year and the last new moon of the lunar year. It is a fulcrum, a threshold. Reaching full darkness in the last degree of Capricorn, it is the last push, the final hill before a big shift into bold and bright Aquarius, the sign of the humanitarian and the capital “F” Future. Aquarius is not just the energy for the next month, it is the energy of zeitgeist for years. The next new moon on February 17th introduces a new theme for the collective Karma and Dharma with a solar eclipse on the Aquarius/Leo nodal axis, and welcomes the Year of the Fire Horse. Over the next month the planets of the collective consciousness will settle into new signs. Neptune and Saturn will enter Aries. And shortly after, Uranus and will enter Gemini and Jupiter will transition in to Leo. Of course Pluto is now well settled in its new home of Aquarius.
What all this means is for later, tonight is for now. Now is the time to reflect and to take inventory of what stays, what goes and what starts. This is Saturn’s teachings at his finest as it requires a no-nonsense wisdom and devotion to Truth that only deep Love can provide.
It doesn’t matter if you are cleaning your closets or changing your life, or both, as I have done, feel into the sense of coming towards completion, of walking the final mile—and maybe, set the intention to enjoy it.
